Modes: This mode lets you process multiple layers simultaneously. You can make changes to each layer, either individually or all at once. You can also create groups of similar layers and make changes to those groups.

Adjustment paths: You can create and edit adjustment paths (rectangles, ellipses, and circles) that you use to make changes to an image. Use the Paths panel to create, edit, and delete paths, and use the toolbox to load and paint over paths.

Layers: You have many layers that you can use to make adjustments to the colors, black and white, or grayscale of an image. You can group layers so that you can make changes simultaneously, add transparency, make changes to the order that layers appear, and add new layers. Layer Modes control how each layer can be modified.

User interface and controls

The tools all have the same name: move, rotate, flip, and blur. They act on the image in a similar way, just with different sets of settings.

Move – Moves objects relative to the center of the viewport (similar to the moving tool in other programs).

Rotate – Rotates objects by a specified amount.

Flip – Rotates objects upside down, so that the top becomes the bottom and vice versa.

Blur – Smoothes image edges, making them less distinct.

Toolbar and access keys

The toolbar along the top of the image window contains the tools and navigation buttons. The navigation panel is located to the right of the image window. All the tools have an access key. Press the access key with the tool window open to activate that tool.
